San Beda's Admissions Test

I took the entrance exam for San Beda College of Law yesterday (February 9)

The test was scheduled at 8am, but the applicants needed to fill out personal information that time. So basically, the real exam started at about 8:15.

There were four parts in the exam. All parts were 60 items, and the time ranged from 35-50mins for each part.

The first part was about verbal reasoning and reading comprehension. Their passages were rally easy. Not much to think about, most of the answers were a given as long as you read the passage carefully.

The second part was critical thinking. This part was LSAT based. You have to determine from the choices which were the right conclusion, assumption, etc. And the last 20 items were all logic games. I think the time given was sufficient, the examiner simply shouldn't dwell too long on an item.

The third part was all about math. Yep, MATH! Calculators weren't allowed, as if you'd need them. This part was pretty easy. Basic algebra, geometry, radicals and other HS stuff. It's funny because these were the things I've been teaching my sister w/ regards to their topic in school. (Take note: She's only on her 2nd year in HS)

The fourth part was about abstract reasoning. The difficulty ranged from easy to average. But you need to have a good eyesight to answer this quickly. LOL

After the time alloted for the exam was done, we were given another answer sheet for the essay which was needed to be answered for 35mins. The topic on our exam was
"Do you agree that a lawyer should undergo one year of Governement supervised OJT in the Philippines before he can practice in the country, why or why not?"
Sorry, I'm not gonna tell you my answer.

  3. Hi jolo..i'm planning on taking the same exam on september at san beda, but i'm not confident on the part on logic, abstract reasoning and math. Can you recommend a review center or review materials that may help? Thank you very much for your help. :)

    1. Hello Russell. For the logic part, I highly recommend for you to study LSAT reviewers. You can download it online. I downloaded mine on torrent sites.

I don't think you should worry too much about the Math part. It only consists of basic Algebra and geometry BUT if you really want to study, I'll recommend GMAT reviewers. It could also be found online.

      Best of luck!

    1. No problem. Based on experience, especially when I took the board exam, the most important thing is to be confident when you're taking the exam.

Good luck and God bless :)

  6. Hi Jolo! Same as everyone here, I am also an aspiring lawyer... :) I have one question though, after the written exam, did you undergo to a panel interview? I already tried the exam in PUP and yes, there was a panel interview. Still waiting for an available slot, so I decided to try here in Beda Alabang which is nearer for me.

Your answer would be a great help...LOL! By the way, Thank you in advance!! :)

  10. Hi. Do the essay questions in the exam remains the same? Kahit na magkaiba ng araw sa pag exam? o nababago yun?

  11. Hi. I graduated from UP too. I did not have the chance to take the UP LAE. So, I submitted requirements at Beda last Feb and took the exam last March. It is the first exam I took after two years of working. It is difficult, not because of the nature of the exam, but because of the doubt and fear that if I would not be able to pass, what would I do next?

PS. The agony of waiting for the result.

  13. This is really helpful. Thank you so much. Though, I want to ask, compared to UP LAE, how difficult is the entrance exam in San Beda. I'm planning to take it this May and I failed the LAE so my confidence right now is really low. I'm super frightened. Anyway, if you have other tips for me, I'd be really grateful.
Anyway, congratulations. :) and Thank you in advance.

  15. Hi Jolo. I'm thinking of taking the entrance ecam this coming May. I'd like to ask if reviewing for 1 and a half months is already okay as a preparstion for the exam?

  16. That’s very knowledgeable. Well, for my LSAT I am feeling quite nervous. It is very hard to find the guides for preparing for this test. I am doing some online research so it will be quite helpful if you could provide any help regarding that.
